Update: I can't recommend Anderson Barlow Contracting enough, queer owned and operated! I've used them for work on a rental property that I manage before and was always happy with the results. I just had them out to my place to install some acoustic paneling to dampen the noise between the two floors of my house. Originally I was going to put a door between the two floors and the cost of that project was prohibitively expensive and difficult and would've resulted in an awkward result anyway due to the layout of the staircase. Meg came up with the idea of acoustic paneling and a thick curtain and I'm currently watching TV in my part of the house at a comfortable volume for the first time, with people sleeping upstairs unable to hear it.
